EDI(Electro Deionization)module is a new technology that combines electrodialysis and ion exchange for continuous water purification. It uses mixed ion exchange resin to adsorb anions and cations in the feed water. Then, under the action of DC voltage, these adsorbed ions are removed by passing through the anion and cation exchange membrane into the concentrated water chamber, respectively. At the same time, the water will dissociate under DC voltage to produce enough H+ ions and OH ions for continuous deep desalination. This new technology can replace conventional ion exchange (DI) to make pure water with resistivity up to 18 MΩ.

1. No Chemical Regeneration of Ion Exchange Resin with Acid and Alkali

The most significant advantage of EDI is that it no longer needs to regenerate the ion exchange resin with acid and alkali, which saves a lot of acid and alkali and cleaning water, thus making it more friendly to the environment. At the same time, it also dramatically reduces the labor intensity of operators.

2. Easy Operation and Automatic Process Control

EDI is easy to operate and manage, with a low failure rate and easy-to-realize automatic control of the process. Moreover, it combines reverse osmosis (RO), ultrafiltration (UF), and other water treatment technologies. Using reverse osmosis technology for primary desalination and EDI technology for secondary desalination can ultimately make the pure water manufacturing process continuous, thus forming a perfect high-purity water production line.
